About Us
We are Jonathan and Rachel Morgan and we are both following God’s call to serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators long-term in Africa.
Rachel is serving as part of the team translating the Bible into the Rangi language. There are 350,000 Rangi people who do not have the Bible in their own language and she is working alongside national Bible translators assisting them with the exegetical and linguistic aspects of the translation so that they can have access to the Word of God.
God has given Rachel a passion since childhood (3rd grade) to work with Wycliffe Bible Translators so that she could give God’s Word to people who do not have it in their language. Since then her studies and short term mission experience have been drawing her towards the goal of becoming a long term missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Rachel graduated in May 2005 from Evangel University and then completed her Masters degree in Biblical Exegesis and Linguistics at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics and Dallas Theological Seminary in 2007.
Today, Rachel We left for Tanzania in January 2008. Rachel is involved in Bible translation and is working . Jonathan is serving as branch finance manager, overseeing the finances of the organization in the whole of Tanzania and Uganda. With Wycliffe, she is working alongside local Bible Translators and teach them linguistic, biblical and theological skills and encourage them as they translate God’s Word for their people.
Jonathan is serving as the Director of Finance & Administration for Uganda/Tanzania which involves managing and overseeing the finance, legal and administration issues for the work in the region. His desire is to see that the finances of the organization continue to be utilized with integrity and transparency towards the goal of bringing a translated Bible in every language that needs one. He is also involved in training both national staff and other missionaries involved in finance.
Jonathan felt God’s calling to missions work shortly after becoming a Christian a college. At that time he wasn’t sure whether that would be serving with a Christian charity in England or serving overseas. However, he saw that there was a severe shortage of trained professionals on the mission field, particularly working overseas, so his desire was to use his accounting, finance and IT skills to serve God on the mission field.
Jonathan became a Chartered Accountant and worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for 9 years before joining Wycliffe Bible Translators in March 2004. He studied a Redcliffe Bible College for a year and Dallas Theological Seminary for a year.
While Rachel was completing her Masters degree, he served in the Wycliffe International Finance department in Dallas as Finance Systems Operations Manager. This gave him an excellent understanding of how the finances of Wycliffe operate before embarking overseas to work as the Finance Manager in Uganda/Tanzania.
